When Mario does certain actions, a [[Forward Rollout|Dive Recover]] for example, he is in a state where he cannot grab any ledge. However, grabbing a star will immediately put him in the star dance action, which has the ability to grab ledges.
While the animation of the ledge grab does not play, Mario will appear at the top of the ledge just like if it had.
